I am active around the web as a writer and photographer. I am also involved in a few projects focused on food and community. Here are the places where you can find me.
Writing
Harmonious Belly – I write about traditional, nourishing foods, and sustainability; create and share recipes; and keep my readers updated on my gardening escapades. There is also a matching Harmonious Belly Twitter feed, and Facebook page. Please stop by the blog and say hi! You can subscribe to the RSS feed, too.
We Heart Astoria – I write about Astoria, Queens with two other friends in the neighborhood, Judith Klein Rich, founder of The Foodista and Mackenzi Farquer, proprietress of SITE Design, here in Astoria. We keep up with what’s going on with the neighborhood and share our discoveries and observations with our readers. We Heart Astoria has both a Twitter feed and a Facebook page, as well as an RSS feed.
About Astoria – I am a Contributing Writer for About.com, focusing my efforts on Astoria, Queens. I write about places to see, things to do, good things to eat, and profile local organizations and businesses in Astoria and Long Island City. My articles appear toward the bottom of the page.
Photography
Flickr - I take photographs with my trusty Canon Rebel XSi and share them on Flickr for the pleasure of friends, family and even strangers. My images are licensed via Creative Commons (the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License, to be more specific). If you would like to use one of my photos for a commercial enterprise, please contact me for permission.
All photographs on this website are taken by me, unless otherwise specified.
Other Projects
Queens Swap - I am a founder and organizer of the Queens Swap, a food swap based in the borough of Queens. The concept is basically this: people get together to swap homemade, homegrown, or foraged food for food and have fun. We are working with local businesses and community members to procure space for the swap. You can find the Queens Swap on both Twitter and Facebook.
Hellgate CSA – I am one of the original Core Group members of the Hellgate CSA, and have been involved with the Core since 2005. We help bring fresh, seasonal, organic vegetables weekly to a small group of Astorians during the months of June to December. I have served as the Volunteer Coordinator, the Newsletter Editor/Blogger, and am currently the Membership Coordinator. I will be blogging for them this year, too. Hellgate CSA has a Twitter feed and a Facebook page.
Traditional Foods Kitchen Meetup – I am the Co-Organizer and Social Media Manager for this Meetup group focused on traditional foods of all kinds. We have had a number of meetups already, from learning how to make phyllo dough from scratch, to making fresh mozzarella, to lacto-fermenting vegetables. Events will happen throughout the year.
