After approximately three years on hiatus, I have returned to playing music. And my harpsichord is home! I received it last week. I love that it’s here – it fits just right in the space I planned for it, and adds a nice warmth to the room. There is plenty of room for future rehearsals, too.
I’ve played about 30 minutes a day – the first thing I played was D’Anglebert, my favorite 17th century French composer. Today I read through Purcell suites and found them so delightful. I think I will spend more time with them. I also played through some Pachelbel facsimiles, an was happy to see that my clef reading hasn’t suffered. These pieces are really nice, and I’ll play more of them.
Can’t wait to dive back into the late Medieval and early Renaissance music, too.
It’s so great to be back at the instrument. I’m enjoying it very much!
